HONORING THE TURNING

Happy Imbolc, St. Brigid's Day, or First Day of Spring!

February 1 marks the turning from winter to spring! For me, and for many, it has been a challenging winter season. So, I am taking this opportunity to meditate on all that I have held in that sometimes bitter and sometimes sweet darkness of winter. Then I am then turning my heart and soul towards the hope and certainty of spring.

What am I doing to honor the turning of the seasons on St. Brigid's Day Eve? On one side of an index card, I am writing down the things I experienced or learned in the darkness. On the other side, I am listing my hopes for the spring. Then I am placing the card in a private quiet place, spring side up, and covering it with nature objects to represent the planting of hopes in the deep dark earth and the anticipation of spring.
